bank balance in the "Black". Planning for next years' show begins on Sept 9.  Members Kirei Samuel, Judy
Kent, Mia Lane, and Doug Johnson were juried into the show and Doug Johnson received an honourable
mention. Congratulations to our members!

PAINT THE COUNTY HUGE SUCCESS!

A HUGE thank you goes to AOMG member Terry Williams and former member Aidan Haley... Terry who sold
us on the idea of a plein air event, Aidan who did the nitty gritty to get it all together.  We can be proud of
the role played by Arts on Main Gallery, all those members who took to the street to paint, and others who
generously donated paintings!   Another huge thanks for your vision and organizational skills, and a big
"well done" is due to ALL the participating ARTISTS, AOMG ARTISTS,VOLUNTEERS, ORGANIZERS (especially
Melissa Dunnett )and SPONSORS for this event.

We raised just over $5000.00 for Alternatives for Women which, frankly, exceeded our expectations. We
had bids on, and sold, 44 of 52 pieces of art. One of our sponsors/organizers, Black Prince Winery, sold
250 bottles of wine for which they donated $2.00 per bottle to AFW. There were many volunteers/sponsors
associated with this event and all contributed to it's success including the Prince Edward County Arts
Council.

The August weather was spectacular, and a lot of people spent time talking, admiring the work and
photographing the artists at work. This event did a lot to raise awareness amongst the citizenry of how
vibrant our art community is........THANK YOU ALL!!!!!

Introducing AOMG Newest Artist -Gudrun Gallo

Our newest Arts on Main member is Gudrun (Finnbogadottir) Gallo. Gudrun has been painting formally for
the last 10 years, though her artistic interests started much earlier on. Gudrun worked for over twenty
years in the graphic design field in Toronto with newspapers such as The Globe and Mail and The Toronto
Star. She has shown her work in various County exhibitions and shows such as Art in the County, Scenes
of Sandbanks and the Picton Fair.

You can see some of Gudrun's new works in a joint art show with fellow artist, Judy Plomer. The 'County
Inspirations' art show (see above for details) features some of Gudrun's current contemporary style of
painting. You'll see big, bold florals and large wine glasses as well as County inspired landscapes. Gudrun
says she is moving towards a specific feel that defines her own approach to painting still life acrylics, "I
really enjoy doing large impact pieces of everyday life. Capturing the essence of flowers or fruit really
speak to me. I love vibrant colours and a sense of movement. The abundance and layering of colourful
petals and foliage create tension on the canvas."
She also works out of gud house studio in Milford, open by appointment.
