The exceptional images in the Master Series were taken during travels in Asia, Europe and North America. These images hold deep personal meaning, reminders of unique experiences and physical challenges often in remote locations. The first image offered in the series is "Prayer Flags". Rick comments, "This image was made near the completion of an arduous ten day trek in the Annapurna Range of the Himalayas. Suffering from the altitude and continuous uphill trekking we arose at 4 a.m in the biting cold and dark. Hiking steadily uphill for two hours we arrived at the sacred peak almost precisely at sunrise. Regaining our breath we hung our prayer flags and envisioned the mantras being released into the winds. Tibetans believe these mantras bring compassion, good will and benefit to all people in the region. I shot images until my camera batteries died in the intense cold. To me, this image evokes the spiritual experience of that cold morning high in the Himalayas. I can almost see the mantras fluttering off the ends of the flags." Each Master Series image will be offered in a limited edition of five 30 x 20 inch prints artfully framed to suit each image. click here to see Rick's artwork -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mia Lane in Canadian Home Workshop Magazine -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pamela Carter Painting Class Pamela Carter’s oil painting class entitled “Fearless Oil painting” has successfully concluded after 9 sessions at the Town Hall in Wellington with the participants eager for a sequel! The class of 11 students ranged from absolute novice to very experienced painters, each with their own set of apprehensions and/or questions about the mysteries of oil painting. Over the course of the 9 weeks, all of these issues were addressed as Pam shared her particular approach, each week challenging the students with new ways of tackling colour mixing, composition, drawing, blocking in, layering, working from life, using photos, and more. click here to see Pamela's artwork -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dayna Law on Inspiration Dayna Law, one of our members who is painting in Florida was asked what inspires her work, she writes: “I am inspired by vivid colours, earthy textures, the ebb and flow of tropical tides, sumptuous flora, musky swamps and the treasures of sea and sand. The mottled colours of sea grape leaves inspired my painting and brings me pleasant memories of a stormy day treasure hunting on the beach.” click here to see Dayna's art |
