INTRODUCING PAMELA CARTER Pamela explains, "I'm originally from Montreal where I painted, gave workshops and taught high school art for over 25 years. I moved to the County a year ago after a brief three year stint in Toronto, again having taught art in several private schools. I work only in oils now, but I began my painting career with a fierce love of pastels, studying with some great master pastellists in the US, eventually becoming president of the Pastel Society of Eastern Canada, based in Montreal. I gave many workshops across Canada, and also travelled to Santa Fe NM, and Rouen, France with my workshops. I love the County and feel as though I’ve come home here. My work includes some County subject matter, but I’m still very attracted to the urban scenes of Toronto and more recently, to the challenges of abstract experimentation on larger canvases. It’s been an unexpected surprise in moving here to find such a vibrant, well established, and professional art community which is very well reflected in Arts on Main Gallery. I’m proud to be among its members and I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of the artists at future exhibitions." |
